Our diver and aquatic safety programs for both Divers and non -divers are offered through Divers Alert Network (DAN) for both the provider and instructor levels including CPR and First Aid programs.
The Phoenix SCUBA professional staff shares their passion, training and experience in every program. This assures that each of our programs exceed the training standards for the associations that we represent and industry standards. Our programs are designed to be safe and enjoyable, with the goal of making you a competent and comfortable diver, not just a certified diver.
We have 3 experienced SSI Classified SCUBA instructors on staff providing the only SCUBA program in Western NY and the adjacent Niagara Peninsula to train individuals of ALL abilities. Come in and ask about Dive Pirates, WNY Adaptive Water Sports and “First Dive” the adaptive charities we support.
If you think you want to become a diver we recommend that you take our Try Scuba experience as your introduction to the underwater world. This entry-level program gives you the opportunity to preview the underwater world in confined water without committing to the expense of committing to a longer certification program. The cost of this program applies completely to the cost of an open water diver program. You will also earn the SSI Try Scuba recognition rating.
The SSI Snorkeling program may be your first step in becoming a freediver or even a scuba diver. Most people enjoy it so much that they enroll in a dive training program afterwards. Through the SSI Freediving Level 1 or SSI Open Water Diver program, you can complete your training and get full credit for what you have already accomplished in your Snorkeling program.

What Every Diver Should Know
Decades of experience has taught us that there are four requirements to successful diving: proper knowledge, proper skills, proper equipment, and experience.
There are certain safety rules that must be learned. With a professional teaching system (a manual, video, and study guide), you can study this information on your own. An Instructor will be available for assistance.
You must develop ability with basic scuba skills, such as moving in the water and equipment handling. The best way to learn is from a qualified Instructor at a professional scuba school. Review and practice time reinforces the skills.
The most comfortable, convenient and enjoyable way to dive is with your own set of properly-fitted equipment. As you become familiar with your equipment, your ability level increases. Servicing your equipment annually improves your equipment’s performance, and minimizes malfunctions, which provides peace mind.
While education helps develop knowledge and skills, the key to becoming a comfortable and confident diver is simply to dive as much as possible. Your experience increases as you explore different diving locations, meet new friends, have new adventures, and explore new worlds. That’s why SSI’s motto is “serious diving, serious fun!”
This globally-recognized certification program is the best way to begin your life-long adventure as a certified scuba diver. Personalized training is combined with in-water practice sessions to ensure you have the skills and experience required to become truly comfortable and competent underwater. Upon completion, you will receive an SSI Open Water Diver Certification. This program includes the use of all equipment for the program.
